Ford Fusion Review - US News & World Report

Ford Fusion Review

The 2014 Ford Fusion ranks 5 out of 21 Affordable Midsize Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of published reviews and test drives of the Ford Fusion, as well as reliability and safety data.
The 2014 Fusion is available with four different four-cylinder engines, three of which are Ford’s turbocharged EcoBoost engines. A six-speed automatic is standard, and a six-speed manual and six-speed auto with paddle shifters are available. Auto writers say the Ford Fusion’s base four-cylinder engine offers sufficient power, though they prefer the extra oomph the turbocharged EcoBoost engines deliver. The six-speed manual transmission that’s paired with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine is liked for its smooth shifts, and critics say it makes the Fusion more enjoyable to drive. The Fusion gets up to 25/37 mpg city/highway, which is good for the class. Reviewers say the Fusion is nimble on a winding road, and they like how precise its steering is. The 2014 Fusion has a standard post-crash alert system, eight air bags, including a knee air bag for the driver and front passenger, and optional rear inflatable seat belts.
Inside, test drivers say the 2014 Ford Fusion is roomy and comfortable, especially in the back seat. Many also like that the Fusion’s trunk is large and deep.  The 2014 Fusion comes standard with voice-controlled Sync with MyFord, which includes Bluetooth, 911 Assist and a feature that reads incoming text message over the speakers while you’re driving. Other standard features include an auxiliary audio jack and MyKey, which lets parents set limits for young drivers. Available features include navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, Sync with MyFord Touch, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, push-button start, a moonroof, a 110-volt plug, dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning, active park assist, a rearview camera, back-up sensors, rain-sensing wipers, blind spot monitoring and a lane keeping alert system.
